Finally, after a few years I am rebooting the blog. Of course nobody who may have read the original block will be back here.

The original blog, now lost to the shadows of time. XSLT / XPATH / XML seem like a thing of the past now. Are they? I will not be including that content here as I can’t find it immediately to hand, and it really isn’t relevant anymore.

I think it was a Flask site hosted on python anywhere. Good times.

Years of procrastination have prevented me from actually doing the reboot, and this is my attempt to break that cycle. Of course now the content will be mostly Django focused as this has been my life now since 1.8. I mean 2015 of course. Scary when you measure your life in Django releases.

Another failure for the reboot happening was starting, kind of developing, then getting too busy with bread-and-butter work to finish various (Django) based blog sites. I got caught up in the “make something perfect” cycle. I also incorrectly shifted the focus from creating content to creating a (technology) platform. This is one of the reasons this looks like it does right now (future people check archive.org…) as I want to primarily focus on the content.

For the curious, I am making this in Hugo so I can host on the most excellent Cloudflare Pages. I will also give me the opportunity to improve my frontend skills. I really appreciate the Hugo kick-off guide from this blog. Got me up quicker than I expected. All the other guides I found pop you straight into downloading a theme, which at this point I didn’t want to do. Bravo.

We shall see how it goes I guess…
